I'm a huge fan of scientific illustration, so I always wanted to paint an underwater scene, and a layers-of-earth-strata scene. So, I did. The layered borders are inspired by tromp l'oiel borders from National Geographic.

My brother used to take great delight in harassing people with 
large beetles, especially june beetles, while singing a variation on a Polaroid camera jingle: "Meet the clinger, the Polaroid clinger."
